Dear The Animation
Workshop.
My name is Cecilie Rou
Madsen, I'm 19 years old and my dream is to become a Concept artist.
As so, I would like to apply for your Computer Graphic Arts course.
Ever since I was able to
hold a pencil in my hand I have loved to draw. It's been my passion
for as long as I can remember. Through my life, I have been
considering various things for which to use my passion for art, and
since I have always had a passion for video games, it didn't take
long for me to realize what it is I really want to do with my life.
What I love about art is
how it moves people, how it makes people imagine wondrous things and
travel to different worlds by stimulating their senses; either
through music, paintings, games, etc. One of the art forms which
really knows how to do this, in my opinion, is the art of games. The
way games combine visual beauty, mesmerizing music and moving
stories, which in some cases are stories open for interpretation that
allow the audience to create their own understanding of the
particular story, is something I have always been fascinated by. One
of my favourite games is “Eternal Sonata” - a game which focuses
on the idea of games as an art form. It is visually beautiful and the
soundtrack is made of various classical songs, as well as some famous
pieces by Frédéric Chopin. It is a game full of symbolism and there
is no true way of understanding it. It's all about what the
particular gamer thinks, which I love. The art of games is a truly
beautiful thing and I want to contribute to it with my art.
Through the years I have
been inspired by various things but I have never taken any art
classes. I am purely self-taught, but I have taken advice from people
countless times in order to improve. I have taught myself how to use
Photoshop for drawing, colouring, editing a few things and painting
digitally and I am eager to learn more! One of the people who inspire
me is the diseased pianist Frédéric Chopin. His passion for his
music is something I can relate to in every aspect of it. It was
everything to him; his true love. He would spend weeks perfecting a
piece, changing small and seemingly unimportant details, only to end
up satisfied with the way he had started with it. The passion he had
is possibly my greatest inspiration of all, and encourages me to keep
improving.
This is my first time
applying and I am hoping it will be my only time applying. I will
graduate from Middelfart Gymnasium this summer, and as so I haven't
finished my exams yet, but as soon as I have finished my exams I will
send you my examination papers. If I make it into The Animation
Workshop, I plan to finance the education with a loan as well as SU,
but in case it proves difficult, I have a very supportive family and
I have been assured that they will do whatever they can to help me.
I am convinced that your Computer Graphic Arts course is where I belong and I am determined to keep working hard in order to prove it. I hope that you will allow me the chance to do so because I won't allow myself to disappoint you.
